The Tenementals are a group of academics, musicians and artists who have recorded a series of songs which recounts a history of their native Glasgow. They aim to tell a radical history of a radical city in a radical way. Their debut album, Glasgow: A History (Vol. I of VI), was released in November 2024 to extensive critical acclaim.

The Tenementals’ debut performance was at the 2022 Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival, where they secured the festival’s 'Outstanding Event' award. Since then, they have performed at events such as the Glasgow Hidden Lane Festival, collaborations with the RMT union's Secretary-General Mick Lynch at The Revelator Wall of Death and a May Day Special at Portobello, at Glasgow's Queen's Park bandstand for May Day, and at Belle and Sebastian's 2024 Glasgow Weekender. They have performed at numerous fundraisers for community and progressive causes, including alongside Maxine Peake for The Working Class Movement Library. In Spring 2025, they commenced an ‘Outwith Glasgow’ tour with dates across Scotland (and one in Ireland).

The Tenementals first achieved international recognition when their cover of the classic German protest song Peat Bog Soldiers / Die Moorsoldaten was placed in the archives of the concentration camp in which it was first performed. Further international recognition followed when their song, A Passion Flower’s Lament, was housed in The Virtual Museum of the Spanish Civil War.
